Input Modifiers

Input Modifiers are a convenient way to expand the set of usable buttons of your input devices by allowing the creation of button combinations to activate bindings.

Tip

If you are using an input device with few buttons (like a gamepad), input modifiers are a great way to reuse buttons for additional bindings.

Assign a Modifier

Say you are using a gamepad to play a mouse and keyboard game (which requires more buttons to play) and want to reuse your A and B buttons for number keys when you press D-Pad Up.

To assign a modifier to a binding:

  • Edit the binding
  • Press the input at the top
  • Select the modifier

Repeat for all binding inputs you want modified.

Info

Bindings with modifiers are only active when they are held. They are meant to be active temporarily to quickly perform a function.

Choose Modifiers

To change which buttons can be used as a modifier, press the "..." and select Input Modifiers and make the changes you prefer.

Modifier Modes

You can choose how you want unmodified bindings (those without a modifier) treated while a modifier is active. Available modes are: Exclude, Include, and Exclude All.

Exclude

In Exclude Mode, when a modifier is active, all unmodified bindings that share the same inputs are disabled.

For example, in this case, bindings with the A and B inputs are under the D-Pad Up modifier. When the modifier is active, only those unmodified bindings with A and B inputs will be disabled.

Include

If Include Mode is in use, when a modifier is active, no unmodified bindings are disabled.

Exclude All

In Exclude Mode, when a modifier is active, all unmodified digital bindings are disabled (analog bindings remain enabled).
